Since we arrived too late last night to look around - or to get food for breakfast - I went out foraging for food after sleeping in a bit. After a short walk over the river and through a campground I found some milk, bread and croissants to tide us over. On the way back to the apartment I heard the church bells calling folks to worship and saw the church spire just down the valley . So after dropping off the pastries I went looking for the church- but when I found it, it was empty!! As I turned to leave, I saw a note on the door- in German (as were all the signs posted there). Remembering my translator app I discovered that it said that worship would be I. The park next to the rectory- so I went hunting for the park! It’s a little village and they were singing a hymn which made it easy to find them! The service was all in German but the hymn tunes were familiar - and the pastor explained his sermon to me afterward ( including his likening the apostles to a soccer team - during World Cup week!). See the pics of the park and musician for the service - and the waterfall that was the backdrop for the service!
