Today we stayed in Tuscany, traveling half an hour to Florence where we spent the day. There was a special tournament in town with ancient costumes and we got to see a peek of the costumes. Florence is bigger than the town of Orvieto but still a small city with spreading suburbs. The ancient Medici family lived there and spent centuries acquiring some of the best art they could find including that of Michelangelo and Leonardo Divinci. They also gathered up Ancient Greek and Roman statues. The last living Medici left all the art to the city with the stipulation that it be constantly on display. Tourism is now a minor industry here - and we helped! We overdosed on art! Here’s some of what we saw in Florence.
